Area Information for Kenilworth, Illinois

Kenilworth is a village located in Cook County, Illinois and about 17 miles north of downtown Chicago.  Considered one of the newest suburban North Shore communities that border Lake Michigan, Kenilworth is the only one that was developed as a planned community.

Despite how relatively new the community is, Kenilworth has already won numerous accolades from the media. For instance, in 2009, American Demographics magazine named Kenilworth's Zip code, which is 60043, as the 11th most affluent in the United States!  

And in 2007, Forbes magazine recognized the community as the 19th most expensive Zip code in the country.

As of the 2000 Census, there were 2,500 people living in Kenilworth.

Education in Kenilworth, Illinois

Despite the fact that Kenilworth has its own public school district, there is only one school there.  The school, Joseph Sears School, was named after the village's founder.

The school includes kindergarten through eighth grade and has about 60 students per grade. Sears also features a gymnasium, auditiorium, library, computer lab, playing fields and more! 

School District 38 is considered the fifth most expensive primary school district in Illinois for per-student spending!  That's a pretty good guarantee your child will have the best education available should you decide to relocate to Kenilworth!

For high school, most of the residents of kenilworth attend New Trier High School in the nearby school district.

Although there are no private schools within in the borders of Kenilworth, there are several quality private schools in the vicinity, including:

  • St. Faith, Hope and Charity
  • St. Joseph
  • St. Francis Xavier
  • Roycemore School
  • Baker Demonstration
  • North Shore Country Day
